Snug within the enchanting blue Provençal-patterned slipcase lies the FRENCH COUNTRY DIARY 2012, with its vibrant linen-textured, floral book cover elegantly displaying the new year '2012.' Each of the fifty-two week-at-a-glance spreads, featuring the evocative photographs of Guy Bouchet, offers an intimate vignette of the French countryside, including gardens, private homes, gastronomy, villages and inspiring landscapes.

Among the memorable spots that we visit in this year’s Diary is a beautiful inn near Les Baux de Provence, above, where breakfast of crusty warm baguettes and fresh fruit is the perfect start to a summer's day; and Semur-en-Auxois, a postcard-perfect village in Burgundy. Join us for a year of French country delights!

ADIEU, PIERRE DEUX ...

Sadly and suddenly, Pierre Deux, the grand and much loved purveyor of French Country furniture, fabrics and, of course, the FRENCH COUNTRY DIARY, has closed. The company abruptly shuttered all 23 of their stores nationwide at noon on Thursday, June 23. Founded in Greenwich Village in 1967 by the charming duo, the late Pierre Moulin and Pierre LeVec, Pierre Deux introduced the name and concept of French Country Style to the United States, both in their beguiling stores and in their ground-breaking 1984 style book, "Pierre Deux’s French Country." We will miss the stores as a source of gorgeous French Country products, and we will miss our many warm and wonderful friends on the Pierre Deux staff. To them we say, "Bon courage, bonne chance, et à bientôt!"

VIVE LA BELLE TRADITION!

From breakfast in a Provençal garden with warm baguettes and
flaky croissants, to a connoisseur’s antique shop in Paris known
for its period treasures, the elegant French Country Diary 2012
presents the glory of France in 52 intimate vignettes. Author
Linda Dannenberg and French photographer Guy Bouchet continue
the beloved tradition of the French County Diary, a perennially
popular week-at-a-glance engagement calendar, with a new year of evocative images. This year we discover a romantic autumn garden
in a palette of purples and blues at the Chateau de Blérancourt near Compiègne; a dream-like Medieval village perched on a hillside in Burgundy's Côte d'Or region; and, during the holidays, a candle-lit Christmas table with a tureen of foie gras as the mouth-watering center-piece. Here are the luminous colors, the poetic landscapes, and the
luscious flavors of France to savor from week to week.

A superb blue-floral fabric pattern from Olivades graces
the vibrant slip-case, while the linen-textured book cover displays
the year ‘2012’ on a ground of brilliant fuchsia. Lush four-color endpapers, generous space for jotting daily notes, and back matter
that includes decorative address pages are what the Diary’s
worldwide legion of fans have come to expect. New this year: an elegant
satin ribbon bound in to mark each week.

DIARY DESIGN: Each weekly spread is a small work of art featuring vintage French typography, a color-saturated photograph of a unique location in France, and a dates page adorned with a vibrant strip of Provençal fabric from Olivades. Above we have a peek at an extraordinary Paris apartment furnished exclusively in rare 18th-century antiques. Below we visit the idyllic Mas de la Baleine, a stone farmhouse near Saint-Rèmy-de-Provence.
